We’re on a mission to make a difference in the folk culture and folk traditions.
Our commitment to fostering our heritage and folk culture is evident in our own people, systematic approach to nurture folk traditions, various programs, and philanthropic partners.
- The main objectives of the Institute is to preserve, promote and disseminate along with our heritage,folk objects that are being used now or that were used in the past and to support folk education, folk trade, folk language, folk literature, folk games, folk songs, folk culture, folk traditions to promote the cultural and traditional interests of the people.
- To achieve this objective, 'Our Heritage' Folklore Conservation forum will carry out the activities mentioned below:
- Running a special folklore museum of our Goan folklore.
- Preserving our folk culture and our ideal folk traditions.
- To make rural people self-reliant and empowered by promoting the folk occupations of all our folk professionals in our rural areas who are working hard to preserve our folk occupations, folk language, folk literature, folk drama, folk songs, folk games, folk education, folk agriculture culture and folk life.
- To enable the livelihood of the scheduled castes – tribes and other nomadic tribes in our Goa by setting up various initiatives to support their livelihood in various ways by disseminating and promoting their folk occupations.
- Running bookstores and libraries.
- Conducting meetings, assemblies, exhibitions, SC/ST tribal festivals, seminars, conferences, culture awareness conferences from time to time.
- To start primary schools in Konkani to provide folk education by disseminating education and folklore at primary, secondary, higher secondary and university levels.
- Conducting Konkani schools and special guidance classes for the development of Konkani language and preparing Konkani literature.
- Conduct special training classes on Konkani language teaching and promotion for the development of Konkani language.
- For the preservation and conservation of folk languages, edit and publish folk language dictionaries and vocabulary.
- To promote and publish the study of Konkani folk literature.
- To conduct research, to support research and to publish that research in relation to our folk objects, folk literature, Konkani language, culture and folk traditions.
- To support our Konkani literature, folklore and study.
- To work in the field of folk art for the development of our Konkani language, literature and culture or to support such work.
- To preserve the folklore of our Goa for the next generation through the production of books, films, sound tapes and short films, films and other media.
- To work with government and other institutions working in the fields mentioned in this Article.
Our Vision:
- Building our traditional village in the future.
- Making replicas of the ward, traditional pandal, Gaval, malye, machul, crop thrashing place, hut, chirmuli, paddy balls, kuchal, gotli for calf or a mud house that our people have in our villages.
- Our traditional games and their demonstrations or training.
- Start a folklore study library for those who study folklore or our heritage.
- Conservation of our different varieties of rice.
- Conserve our traditional farms.
- Opening up separate gallaries of different folk objects to make it easier for scholars to study specifically.
- Establish schools that preserve folk professions.
- To promote public enterprises to make efforts towards their dissemination and promotion.
