Traps are seizing devices into which a creature is tempted either for food or shelter and are unable to escape. Trapping is carried out mainly for food, fur, and other animal products including wildlife management. A variety of fishing nets have been developed since ancient times. There are numerous traditional fish trapping strategies and techniques being used in the rivers, and low lying water areas of Goa. These traps very widely in shapes from colonial, cylindrical, pyramidal to rectangular shaped mostly made up of split bamboo splinters.
